We're a six person homeschooling family--complete with one 62 pound "puppy" and two grumpy part-Siamese cats-- on a cross-country pilgrimmage to a new brand new life (in the dead of winter). Come along for the ride! Is there a Starbucks near here?

Stars and Stripes Forever...and Everywhere!

This is the flag from our Ft. Kam house in Hawaii. This is the Westwind Lodge at Travis AFB, CA. We're going to try to fly it all across the country.

San Francisco here we come!

We drove down to Fisherman's Warf and found a criminally cheap souvenier shop where we bought tons of postcards and magnets (I envision my deep freeze covered in magnets from our travels.) We went to Pier 39, where we saw the famous lazy (and smelly) Sea Lions. We stopped at Boudin's Sourdough bakery along the way to Ghiardelli Square, which was not worth the walk (although we did get a free square of chocolate for our troubles).

I bought my San Francisco Starbucks mug on our way back to our street-parked (FREE) van. Fisherman's Wharf earned a perfect 6 stars. Boudin's earned a 4. Ghiardelli Square 2 (anti-climactic, as Hubby said).

Overall, a fun day.

Breakfast: Up for grabs in the TLF.
Lunch: Ham sandwiches in the van.
Supper: Leftovers in the room.

Weather: PERFECT! Sunny and clear, 60ish degrees.

Jelly Bellys!!!

Note: The dates on these posts are inaccurate. We've written our posts on the road and have updated whenever and wherever we are able to hit the internet...which, so far, hasn't been that often. I'll also update photos later.

Today we went to Target. For my Hawaii friends:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!(that should be angelic singing)

I love Target. 'nuf said.

By chance, we saw a sign for "The Best Factory Tour in the United States" at the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, CA. The tour was free, and included free candy...how could we pass that up? Besides, Jelly Bellys were put on the map by none other than Ronald Reagan. 5 1/2 stars.

And Hubby found a post-Air Force job opportunity!

Then we ate at Chevy's, which is a chain Mexican restaurant, but was new to us so we tried it out. Yummy! I'm a sucker for fresh tortillas and house-made salsa and chips. We walked off without the substantial leftover box we made up, so no lunch the next day. :-(
I thought we had a great meal, but my picky family gave it only 3 1/2 stars.

After we ate, Hubby and I took the kids back to the TLF and then went out to Barnes and Noble for a wireless internet fix. I'm sorry we're not getting hooked up as often as we'd like to update...please keep checking. I'm writing my posts in "notepad" and will upload them as soon as I have the chance.

And don't forget to add your comments!!!
